Yes. They are that different. Even when paying attention it’s easy to cam the bolt over too soon and ding the stock when closing it. Look at any BMag that’s been shot or handled a significant amount and the stock is marked up from the bolt. Nowhere near as nice as the 93s are in that department. That being said...the heavy barreled versions I’ve had have all been shooters. The BMag bolt mechanics(cock on close) are something I’ve never dealt with on another firearm. It’s definately awkward and feels pretty hokey.

Why hasn’t more rifle mfg’s made a 17 wsm?

The reason you dont see a 17WSM in a cz rimfore is that the round cannot fit. This is a limitation for many companies. It is xactly why savage introdced a special model.

The Ruger 77, that can handle rounds like 22 hornet, can also chamber the 17wsm. Same story with the Winchester 1885. It fits, they made some.

I think the caliber was a mistake. Should've been 20 or 22, then it'd be on my want list.

My thoughts exactly. I am not buying something just because it is new. In a 22caliber, it would be a nice step up in killing power.
As a 243 (aka 6mm) or 25 things would really get interesting. I think a 22 would be just about right for the case size.

If there was a whole family of bore diameters from 17 to 24, that might have encouraged the industry to develop some rifles.
A long version of the Ruger American Rimfire would be a natural. Maybe a CZ, but; they seem to want the product line simple.
One convertible 455 model in right hand only. No more 550 standard length actions. I got burned on a 77. I would be hesitant
to try that again. The 1885 might suit me if it came with a good scope mount base and in a 22 WSM.

The W stands for Winchester right? where are all the Winchesters? Levers, bolts, semi's ? Gone. Except the '85. Maybe
an expensive limited 52 in LR someday.

Now, the limited number of rifles, quality and price, might still be a show stopper. At least a 22 would make my "want list".

I believe Franklin Armory makes an AR15 type .17WSM that is an absolute tack driver.
A friend has the Volquartson and Savage and loves it.
I am a left hand shooter and would like to see CZ make an appropriate sized action for it and produce it. Cooper, Henry, Ruger, custom makers, help me spend my money. A .20 or .22WSM is fine also.
Most shooters will shoot a heck of a lot more light calibers than big ones. I hope the manufacturers are listening.
