I have a MKII target rifle with the two stage trigger which is surplus to my needs and I am torn between selling the rifle or using the action for a build. I know from the factory the target actions come with a two stage trigger. Is the action itself different from the standard MKII/hawkeye or is it just the trigger?

Basically wondering if I can just use it for a build and put in the standard Timney for the MKII/Hawkeye

No, you cannot do that. The actions are different in this way: The VT actions (and also the M77 Hawkeye Predator actions; same) have an additional piece welded on that is the mount for the VT's 2-stage trigger parts and adjustments. No MkII or Hawkeye trigger will drop in. A trigger would have to be built for the VT action, and while someone may make one for that action, I don't happen to know about it.

Sort of what I thought,Though I had hoped I was wrong. It seemed if the aftermarket single stage triggers were a drop in Timney or one of the others would mentioned.

You can adjust the first stage out, if you don't like it. Those triggers are about the best factory trigger ever made in that regard.
