So there I was, minding my own buisness at the local gunshow in Waukesha WI, and what do you suppose I came across? An M1899 in 30-30, and for $550! So I did the prudent thing which was shake hime down $50, bring it home, and now posting pics for you all to enjoy in with me. The bore seems fair, I scrubbed it with a bore brush and Hoppes and it now shines, but with some pitting up near the muzzle. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's still semi-accurate. Tell me how I did, good buy or bad buy?

It was an in an out affair, I think I got the buy of the weekend. There's a pristine 1899 SRC there for $3500, but that one has been floating around for quite some time looking for a buyer. I just checked the buttplate and forearm, and the buttplate and buttstock are replacements. It has a perchbelly type buttstock, wich I guess would be out of place for it's age. SN 31,xxx
