Just Bought my first 99E in 308 and would like to mount a scope on it. I called Talley and they do not make mounts for the model 99. What are my options?

Thanks

The Weaver 2 piece bases have had quality issues the last few years, with a lot of folks not able to get their scope leveled and zeroed with new mounts. But, other people have had no problem. So a Weaver #14 and #19 is one possibility if you want to risk it.

Leupold makes a one piece mount which works fine. Or you can get on eBay and pick up some older Redfield or similar bases which use the standard mounting holes.

There is a vintage set of Redfield 2 piece bases setting on ebay. Not real cheap but some people love 'em.

I've got some vintage Weaver bases if that would interest you.

Thank you for the replies. I would like to go with two set bases, instead of a once piece. Looks like weaver or old Redfield is the way to go.

Weaver bases are the classic set up. Savage marketed a two piece private labeled Lyman Trulok system (base and rings) back in the 60s. They are kind of cool in their own way but sit higher than the Weaver base and ring. I'd go with an older set of Weavers for the best bang for the buck and no hassle.

That's a good setup. The only problem I have with it (and the problem is mine and only mine) is that the Burris ring doesn't fully cover the base like the Weaver ring does. I know that's a small thing but it bugs me. I'm just funny that way.
