Friends,

I'm seeking 50-100 rounds of .41 Swiss Rimfire (also called: 10.4X38R) for a "special project".

I understand that FIOCCHI (and possibly some smaller firms) has/have loaded some of these old-school military rounds with smokeless/BP from time to time, in the last few years, BUT I've found NO source, after a search of "the usual suspects" on the Worldwideweird.

Anyone have a current source??

yours, tex

I've had an 1881 Vetterli for fifteen years. I've never seen any rimfire ammo for these rifles other than ones and twosy's, and at great cost. I didn't think ammo had been made for 80 years or so. I can't help with a source for the original rimfire cartridges but can tell you that they shoot wonderfully with a center-fire conversion and using .348 Win case as the bases of the new ammunition. Good luck.

There is a guy in Texas named Haley that is constantly being mentioned in Handloader mag that does off the wall ammo. I have seen his adds in said mag. Get you one from the last couple years and his add might be there.

Navy Arms did a run of .41 Short Rimfire 30 years or so ago, but have I never heard of anybody doing .41 Swiss.

SCGunNut,

Fwiw, I used to know a State Constable from Spartanburg County, who carried a Remington derringer 24/365. = I could probably throw a rock as hard as a .41 Short RF shoots.

Haley has reloadable brass for this rifle. He uses 22 blanks off center for the primer. You have to be careful to orient the cartridge when loading so the firing pin will hit the 22 but they work.

Terry Wieland has done a number of articles in which Haley figures. Neat stuff. Better get crackin'; Mr. Haley ain't no spring chicken, and unless he's training an apprentice, when he retires or goes under a lot of folks will be SOL.

The prices I've seen quoted for his various creations have seemed very fair, bargains really, considering the work involved.
