No fair fishing with newly tied flies - it's the swap that's important! (Especially the Aztec, of course ) What is a Captian hook?

Where I'm going there are only a very few patterns larger than a #18 that we use and thoes are scuds, SJ worms and egg patterns. Mostly it's tiny flies and big fish.
A Captain Hook is basicly a Disco Midge that's ties on a Daiichi 1273 hook. The hook it red. And it's tied with a silver flashabou body and peacock herl head. I'll post a picture when they get developed.

Jealous to say the least. Still frozen over here, and likely to stay that way for another month at least. I did hear recently though that just thinking about an activity could stimulate development of the responsible bain cells and neurons. I should be in as good a shape as anyone then. 1Minute

Back To Flippin' Top! Are you guys fishing or cutting bait?! Heck, mac, this is the time of year when a guy has to tear himself in half and send one half scouting deer and sighting in, and send the other half fishing! Caught a nice 18" buck brookie in full spawning regalia last week, but ran out the door without the camera. As with most things that happen without a camera, the colors had to be seen to be believed. Might try to find him again tomorrow.....

I realize that the important seasons are approaching. But I've waited all summer for more than the few accounts that've been given, and all too soon the excuses will be, "It's too cold" or "The rivers are frozen over". There were some alluring flies passed around that deserve their chance to be all wet.
Are there antler point restrictions on the 'buck brownies' in your area? Congrats.

It might be 25 years since I've done any fishing; my season has gone as usual.
But your flies aren't wasted on me. I'll give them to a (relatively) new fisher/tier friend for use or example.
