Handwerk;

I bought an MPI back in 1986. It was a classic profile. The action was a M700 in 270. I bedded it myself it was a little work but not difficult. I hunted that rifle for many years and the stock performed great. traded that rifle off years ago in search of new and better.

Fast forward, last year i decided to build a lightweight 260 Rem on a Savage action. I called Rick and ordered a McMillan with the edge. Several months later Rick called and informed me they quite offering the edge for the Savage? WTF? Rick was puzzled and so was I. To Ricks credit he offered me a refund on my deposit.

So I ordered a Manners EH8. Six months later they informed me it they would not inlet that pattern for a Savage! Manners customer service was beyond awful.

So out of desperation I called MPI, a nice lady answered the phone and I asked to speak to someone who could answer a few questions regarding their stocks?
She said I can answer your questions and she did! with knowledge , I was pleasantly surprised. I asked about lead times among several other questions. She informed me they could build and ship my stock in 4 to 6 weeks! I about fell out of my chair.

I didnt intend t order a stock that day but I did. Sure enough 5 weeks later my stock arrives. I ordered the mountain rife pattern with the lightweight 16oz option.
The quality is fantastic, the service fantastic.

Just be aware it is not a drop in. I had to bed and paint it. Took me a couple of hours. It is a stiff, light quality stock. And I own several McMillans, a Bansner
Several B&C, and this stock is up there with the best.

the base price of the stock was $365. The lightweight option was an additional $100 for a total of $465. You wont save money with the MPI.
They are a quality alternative if you can do the bedding and painting yourself

They did my '06 with the Dakota 97 stock. Had them do the fitting as they had to build it up to fit the 98 Mauser action. Quality work, nice light stock that mitigates recoil better than the pound or so heavier wood stock.[Linked Image]
