Kind of looks like another surface to slip.....What is the purpose? Zero recoil on the scope. On that rifle, which is an old model RWS 45, the scope moves on the rails about an 1/8 of an inch when the rifle recoils. I have to shoot it more when the weather is more cooperative but so far it seems to be holding zero. Dan

It is high. I think Diana has a one size fits all mentality with this mount. It even has inserts for 1" scopes. Leave the inserts out for 30mm tubes.
There's a Monte Carlo comb on this rifle so the height doesn't affect my aiming.
I just bought an RWS 48 which has a little drop to the butt stock. I didn't use this mount for that application.

...same idea, different execution as a Unertl/Fecker/Lyman/Remington etc. external mount scope.
