Started working underground at a silver mine in north Idaho in 1972 , got into the assay Lab at the Bunker Hill company in 1975 and worked in the assay field for the next 40 years and retired from the assaying business in December 2015. Bought a small grocery store in Montana and putting in twice as many hours and getting paid 20% wages , but enjoy working for myself.

Tedthorn , me too ,I've been machining before I graduated in1985 and got into a small mold shop in the KCMO area . Went through an apprenticeship program and have been building the rotten bastards since . It's been a pretty good vocation for the most part ,the Obama years killed off several tool shops up toward KC . Too young to think much about retirement yet .

39 years as a steel fabricator, where did the time go?

33 years in July working many different jobs for the same electric & gas utility company.

What a long strange trip it's been.

A little over 39 years in our local municipal Public Works Dept. Over 33 years were in the traffic engineering field. Satisfying work.
Have been retired since the Fall of 1993. This Sept. will mark 25 years of retirement. Best job yet!!
