Anyone use a centerfire scope on a rimfire rifle?

I rarely shoot mine under 50 yds, unless hunting. My hunting rimfires mostly have fixed 4x's.

I make sure the scope have adjustable objectives. I have a Bushnell Trophy XLT 4-12x40 AO, a steel Weaver K8 AO and a newly acquired Hawke Vantage 3-9x40 AO.

My favorite scope on a Rimfire is a Burris FFII with Ballistic Plex no problemo with the parallax.

I put a couple of scopes that were advertised as being made for rimfires on a 22 and on a 17HMR. They're okay, but they do not work any better than the 3X9 that I have on another 22, and it was a scope that came on a package deal 243.

I use nothing but Larger game style scopes on Rimfires...

basically because most rim fire scopes suck.....

if I just go a "basic scope", then its a 1.5 x 4 Shotgun scope...

50 yd parralax ( heck its morning...and I don't drink coffee)...

I also like the reticles on them, usually with the Circle X or some similar type..

real handy target acquisition on a squirrel or such...

for 50 to 75 yds, real handy for a fast moving sage rat, when on top of a 10/22...

Aii mine that have scopes have centerfire scopes. I find the Nikon Prostaff 2X7 very useful. No probs

I have some big game scopes on my rifles and some parallax adjustable scopes. My groups aren't really any different with either. Last time out my best groups at 50 yards were using a Redfield Revolution 3-9x40 big game scope with Accurange reticle. That's their circle X. Using federal 50 grain in 22 magnum It gave me a half inch group at 50 yards. Dead on at 50, the intersection of the X and the circle was dead on at 100! At this point, for hunting purposes, I'd say parallax is not that important. Formal target shooting is a different story. Here's the 5 shot 50 yard group shot from a Ruger 77/22 magnum.

Some of the "shotgun" scopes meant for turkey guns have circle reticles with pretty fine crosshairs in the center and short parallax settings, if that's a concern. The Bushnell Trophy XLT is a nice little scope and can be had for less than $100 on sale. Sometimes Natchez almost gives them away. Only go to 4x, but the low end is great for rabbits in cover.

This. I upgraded a couple of scopes on deer rifles and put the Burris FFII 3-9x40s on rimfires and they work great.

Many of the 'big game scopes' can have the parallax adjusted. There is info on here someplace about how to do it. Pretty simple, remove the locking ring and turn the objective assembly until you get the parallax setting you want, put the lock ring back on. Search for 'Adjusting Parallax on Non-Parallax Scopes'.

I use a 4x16 vortex viper on my 17 HMR for squirrel hunting alfalfa fields. Bought the scope for a big game rifle and hated it. It does fine for sage rats.

A squirrel's head is a relatively large target for a very accurate 22. If squirrel heads and tin cans are your standard of accuracy then high power with adjustable parallax isn't really necessary. If you and the gun can shoot 50 yard groups into a single hole slightly larger than the diameter of one round,then the higher power adjustable parallax scopes will benefit you.

Had a SWFA 10x on a 10/22 and it was pretty sweet. Big chunky bitch though, but fun to run it out.

Good advice, the reason I asked this question in the first place is I have a Weaver 6X38. The new Weaver 6X...For me, the eye relief is too short for any of my centerfires (i know it works for some) but not for me.

But for the relatively low cost of the scope, the optics are too good to waste and I am thinking of mounting it on a 1986 Ruger 77/22 that has been a real accurate rifle.

I'll probably have to pass on shots under 20 yards or so.

You might can make the shot but you will likely have a blurry view.

I have, but only parallax adjustable scopes. Works good and I like the better view I get compared to my basic/cheap scope on the 10/22.
