I am sick of these Muck Boots.
Only seem to get a year out of them before they become cold as heck.
Anyone recommend a similar style of boot that lasts well? Warm? Waterproof?
Added bonus.....made in the USA?
Was looking at LaCross...but reviews are not so good.
Thanks.

I like my LaCross. Might not use them as much as you would though. Rubber boots aren't my favorite.

Jim, when it's cold like this I ditch the Mucks and wear Schnee pac boots.
Expensive but they are made in the USA, Bozeman(?).
When the bottoms wear out they will replace them for a reasonable amount.

NONE of them are worth a crap.... however, if you wear the microthin "liner" socks under smartwool, it will keep you warm.

A few years ago I thought the same thing. Didn't get a winter out of a pair of mucks.
I ended up trying a pair of cheaper boots from tractor supply. Figured I'd save some money even if they only lasted a winter. They cracked apart in about a month. Just junk.
My brother tried the same thing with a different brand with similar results. Both were basically garbage, maybe good enough for occasional use.
This winter I went back to the Mucks. Figure if I wear them as they were intended, they might last a bit longer. Try to wear work boots if I'm working in the garage or cutting wood, etc.

I like my La crosse Burly Pro’s a lot, but I’m not in them everyday. I don’t know of too many boots these days that if you’re in them working everyday would last much past a year.

I got almost 3 winters out of my Muck Arctic boots. The heels came off and are being glued back on now. Most comfortable boot I’ve ever owned. It’s not uncommon for me to walk 3-4 miles a day when I’m working outside.

When the bottoms wear out they will replace them for a reasonable amount. Yep and you can get different liners for temps too... I got a set of whites I bought down in big timber first year I hunted Montana, they’re almost too heavy duty. Got a pair if schnees that are the catsass....
Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.

I must be doing something wrong. Going on 7 years with Muck Arctic Pro and they are just now broken in. Feet never get cold. I don't do a ton of walking in them though. Probably wear them 40 days a winter while hunting or working outside.

I've had good luck with Bogs. Not as cold here as where you are probably but these have kept my feet warm and they hold up well. http://m.bogsfootwear.com/shop/style/61142-001.html

All Mucks are not created equal. Muck Arctic Ice has 8mm neo and is good down to -60*. Most all the other Mucks are 5mm neo and good to -25*. Those temps are to be taken with a grain of salt. I think you won't get frostbite if you're moving at these temps and that's about it. I've had a pair of Woodland Mucks for over 10 years. They are my go to boot, but because they are so easy to out on and not because they keep me warm.
If you want warmth, get some Bunny Boots, Baffin Extremes, or Cabelas Predators. I bought the latter and they say they're good to -148*F. They're warm. Wouldn't want to walk very far in them though. Hot and huge - almost too huge to drive while wearing them.
If'n your wearing boots everyday, get 2 pair. Wear one pair and put the other on a boot dryer (about $30). Change to the dry warm pair every mornin. You'd be surprised at how much warmer your boots are.

Muck wetlands for me ...rated to 20 below.......any colder and you will need some Schnee type boots
I have the worst feet in creation , weak ankles , feet flatter than pancakes , piss pore knees , the first time I stepped into a pair of Mucks it was like getting a lightning bolt...they felt that good
my first pair lasted 3 winters and I am out feeding cattle every day.............

When the bottoms wear out they will replace them for a reasonable amount. My Schnees are fantastic, But I doubt they get the workout as much as a pair of yours.

My experience is that if one wades around in barn yard material day in and day out, the stuff can seemingly digest shoes make out of recycled fire plugs.
