I'm not very happy with amnesty for 1.8 million illegals in trade for $300 trillion debt.

Where do you get the $300 trillion figure? I suspect it's a typo.

The budget had an increase of $300 billion.

Edited to add: the $300 billion increase is military and non-military plus $89 billion in disaster relief over two years.

President Trump's proposed budget ( not what has already been approved) is $3 trillion +, with the vast majority of it coming from the States. To be fair though, he did promise to rebuild NYC if elected.

Sadly the debt is going to increase. Do you want to see it increase with economic growth that should balance out with increased revenue? Or see it increase with more entitlement spending and a stagnant economy? Democrat budget being the latter.

Even if economic growth brought in record revenue( which it already has) DC will spend it and then some(a lot!). That's the point, they spend more than they collect, regardless of economic strength.

I want to see it disappear.

The only way its going to disappear is for the country to default.

Yeah. 300 trillion is not right unless your listening to the MSM and they lie like a rug. The increases in the economy will pay for the debt, but only if Trump is allowed to continue them. The lieberals are the ones who want the country to fail and go bankrupt, then they can put in more government, rob us of our rights and in many cases our lives, destroy what's left of the middle class and start their utopia of Hell on earth. How do some of you who should know better just not understand?

We may know the time Ben Carson lied, but does anyone know the time Hillary Clinton told the truth?

Immersing oneself in progressive lieberalism is no different than bathing in the sewage of Hell.

Since our currency is basically "play money", I have a gut feeling that the debt is beyond traditional repair and will require an electronic reset.

if the ldrshp in washington wanted the debt handled, it would have happened forty years ago, twenty years ago, ten years ago or today. but, we see the trajectory is in the opposite direction. those people aren't balancing the budget for our own good. don't believe it? then ask them.

Maybe when China comes calling on their debt we can give them California. Californians want to be communists anyway. And it will be much less of a travel burden for the Chinese students to go to Stanford.

I am in favor of nearly unlimited infrastructure improvements. We are WAY past needing them and there will be a major return on this investment for our country. I have never seen our Nation in this condition. Crumbling roadways, bridges and public transportation systems. Power plants that were built largely in the 50’s and 60’s. A woefully insufficient power grid with little to no security over it.
With that being said, the money should come from other budgets, not out of thin air.

State or local budgets. It's not rocket science. The Federal Government taxes the States, then takes their cut before redistribution to their donors ( voters in case of Democrats).

Power plants? I sure hope my taxes aren't paying for somebody else's power. Nobody's helping me with mine.

Entitlements will be America's demise. Social Security is a TAX. We have no right to get any of it back.

I'm doubtful it will be there when I get old enough to collect social security.

Balance it. The longer it's put off the worse it will be.

Agreed. Social Security is nothing but a Ponzi Scheme we are required by law to participate in. And I'm sure it'll bust long before I am old enough to to get my cut back.

I would of been happier with a more balanced budget instead of more tax breaks. Hopefully it truly will spur the growth we need to get the budget under control

It hasn’t mattered as much with the feds keeping interest rates at ridiculous levels. But it has to, and is, rising. It’s about to come home to roost.

Before it was raided by the libs, SS was workable, if not perfect.
As far as "entitlement" goes - I was promised it back, before I started paying in at 14 years old - and you're damned right I feel entitled to MY money! Per contract!

I see you are both budgeting the same amount for Social Security in your retirement as I am. Zero.

You caught that! grin

I was hoping it would shake up the fire, but it snuck right past. whistle whistle

Give it time, maybe a couple of years; it'll get there no matter who occupies all the seats. Meantime I'm investing in wheel barrows with lids...to carry enough cash to the 7/11 for a can of beans and a bottle of water.

You do not have a cut in Social Security. By design, current workers pay current retirees benefits. When you retire, future workers will pay your benefits. You do not have a Social Security account with your name on it.
