Send them all here. Ill sell two of them, and forward you the money, and a more domestic 270 to use and abuse with a clear conscience. It will be a shooter I guarantee. The third one will live here. Loved and cherished. Sounds like a winner all around.

I have decided to sell the Biesen first.

If you are interested PM for details.

Please keep in mind this is a full custom by one of the legendery names in the business, in his signature caliber.

Al is deceased, Roger has retired, there will be no more new Biesens.

It will accordingly be priced north of the two Dakotas that are currently in the classifieds.

Guys after 2 days of Gut Wrenching, Heart Breaking decision making I told NY that I would pass on the Biesen.

It's just too late in life for me to invest in a Rifle that I ALWAYS admired & wanted.

The field is open, AFAIK.

I appreciate everybody's input.

The first custom rifle I ever held was at Hallowell & Co when they were located in Greenwich Connecticut.

That rifle was a Maurice Ottmar stocked 30-06. I was a poor college student at the time and couldn't afford the paltry $3,500 it would have cost to bring it home.

I was however determined to own an Ottmar one day. His rifles, particularly on pre 64 Winchester or custom Mausers are the Holy Grail (to me at least).

Thus I have decided to keep the Ottmar. The fact that it weighs under 8 lb scoped, shoots the 130 partition load so well and is a rare Pete Grisel double square Bridge Mauser seals the deal.

I will list the featherweight super grade on one of the usual gun sights at a tidy profit and wait for the buyer who wants it more than I do, shooting and enjoying it in the meanwhile.

If you have an Ottmar (or a Goens, or any name sub 8lb custom) I might be interested in and would like to trade towards either the Biesen or SG FW please contact me.

Thanks again.

That Ottmar is an extremely nice gun, I like it's clean classic look. The other two should sell pretty easy, that Beisen is an absolute beauty.

The other thing NY has not shared is he has ANOTHER Biesen stocked m70 in 30-06.. :()

https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...2657403/gonew/1/a-pair-of-biesens#UNREAD

Frankly I think the 30-06 Biesen is a better example of his work than the .270 .The blank the stock is made from is better laid out in terms of grain flow (quartersawn) and it just as pretty ,if not moreso. Also, the '06 stock has Al Biesen's trademark recessed fleur de lis Checkering pattern. To me having a Biesen stock with a point pattern is like like bread with no butter..:) But, I do realize some folks preffer a point psttern.

I know one thing , if you asked Jack OConnor late in his life what rifle he would own if he could only have one rifle- It probably would have been a Biesen stocked pre 64 m70 in 30-06- not .270..

I agree about JOC and the 06---> but I'm not JOC. whistle I personally prefer the 270 in THIS instance.

How many of us have had the opportunity to own a gorgeous Biesen 270 ? ....huh grin

Jerry

I'm trying to convince someone else to buy it. wink

Actually, I was not directly adressing you with that post.

If you like that .270 and have the cash , then go for it. smile

I did NOT take exception to your post. I replied in humor.

ATST - During my "maturity" as a rifle NUT, .... JOC wrote more about the 270 than the 06, or at least I read more about it.

Either would be great but yes I prefer the 270 in THIS instance.

No Harm No Foul
