On the other hand. . .

We got an influx of European hornets a couple of years ago at the farm. These are the true hornets, not the wasps that American call hornets. These are big. I mean BIG!!! We had a bunch of them in the house, and I was worried about them until I found out that European hornets, true hornets, are relatively harmless. They sting, but they're not particularly aggressive. What we call a hornet is a wasp. It's smaller and it's black and yellow and it HURTS, BIG TIME. These guys were big and mostly friendly. Around November, I found the nest, and when I went back in May, it was dead-- probably frozen out in the bad winter.

"The hornets can grow to up to 1.8in and, with a wingspan of 3in, are renowned for inflicting a bite which has been compared to a hot nail entering the body."

Sounds almost like an end time Biblical level of "really, really bad" shocked

I wish our hornets and wasps would be killed by cold weather. Not sure their origin, but the hornets that build their nests in the ground, and the wasps that build their nests in trees, on under eaves on the house, or in the fish smoker, I could do without.

Wonder if France ever heard of a product called RAID?

Let's see what happens if they make it out to the SW USA and run into the Africanized Killer Bees! Maybe an interesting showdown.

I don't think we can pin the mysterious wasps on Bush but there
is no doubt that:

Bush has taken the finest military in the history of mankind
and trashed it in the deserts of Iraq.

Bush has our military spread so thin that they cannot defend
themselves adequately.

Bush now wants to take our exhauted military and send them
into Iran.

That Bush, a chicken [bleep] draft dodger, cares not a whit about
our vets as he cuts veteran benefits.

That Bush, a cheap dry drunk, sits in the White House while
our vets of war rot in rat infested Walter Reed hospital.

I love to hear gun totin arm chair generals like you spout your
Bull.

I'm talking from dim memory, but as I remember the hornets I ran into were about 2 inches long with dull brown to ochre coloration. They had a long stinger. The ones that got in the house were sturdy fellows. I hit one with Raid, and he landed on the floor behind some furniture. The next day, we found him out in the middle of the room-- struggling, but still alive. The nest I found was on the dead side of a living tree, in what appeared as a woodpecker nest.

What I remember reading was that these were non-aggressive, non-threatening hornets, and as long as they were not provoked, they would not sting.

BTW: A few years previous to this, we had an influx of bald-faced hornets back home. I got nailed in the lip one night as I was coming in the front door. There was a nest of them about 15 feet from the door. It felt like I'd been hit in face with a baseball bat. YOW! We called an exterminator and he came over that night and got rid of them. A year or so later, I was out on the deck enjoying happy hour. A hornet came down and lit on the wooden cutting board on which I'd had the steaks. I smashed it with my fist. A few minutes later, another hornet came down and I smashed it. All told I had probably a dozen hornets come down in the space of a half hour. When I was done grilling, I put the dead carcasses on a fence post and went inside. When I came out in the morning, the carcasses were gone-- not anywhere to be seen. I postulated the hornets had come and claimed their dead in the night and then gotten the idea that something mean had it in for them. All I know is that I have never seen a bald-faced hornet again in my neighborhood, going on 6 years.

Hornets are just a large variety of wasp. Regular wasps kill and eat insects. Hornets kill and eat other wasps.

Our military is trashed? We could, at this moment trash any two, three or four other countries whilst still keeping Iraq under our boot. And I might argue that Alexander or perhaps Scipio had the greatest army in the history of mankind. Others might even disagree with me. I guess I'm not as smart as pete here.

I know, Kosovo, Germany, Japan, Korea ect. It's almost like we are at war.

Bush now wants to take our exhauted military and send them

A cheap drunk, what an id ten tango you are, with the money he's got he has to be an expensive drunk. I call dumbass!

Not an arm chair general, an actual lance corporal, at your pleasure sir.

Awesome, next time I need a lawyer I want one like you who
cannot face the reality of a bad situation.

Right !!!!!

We are losing in Iraq and we cannot win in Afghanistan. I am
happy to see that you, and your ilk, can still pretend the
opposite.

I do not play such mind games. Face it, Bush lost both wars
not the Dems. He lost both wars because he failed to heed the
advice of his Generals and Field Commanders who demanded more
troops than Bush and his five time draft dodging VP were willing
to give them. I know you do not want to face it but that is a
fact.

I really wanted our boys to win, but it will never be. Not as
long as we have a worthless drunk as Commander-In-Chief and a
five time draft dodger as VP.

You and your daydreaming hunter pals will just have to wank it
and make believe that Drunken Bush and Draft Dodging Cheney are
gun toting war heros like Johnny Cash or Billy Bob Crocket.
Yeah, just like in the movies.

Sweet dreams you wanker, the reality is they are losing both wars, and it ain't the Dems fault, as much as you would like
it to be.

Now go out and polish your torpedo, again.

Heck of an eight posts there Pete. Three on Savage 99's 0ne of which you note you're not a hunter, and five posts slamming the government, foreign policy and spreading lies. I can think of two things you might want to look up on the net FOAD and plonk. They both apply to you.

Cheers
