How good were the older green colored Remington 700 mountain rifle stocks? Seen a couple lately and was curious.

Can you post a picture? Not quite sure I remember a green one.

No idea about the green ones but the early ones were made by McMillan and were very good. In a nod to Dupont then the parent company of Remington they added Kevlar fibers which can increase the toughness of the stock with less weight. McMillan didn't think much or the aramid fiber as it is a PITA to sand as it turns to fuzz when you do.

I think they have used HS stocks and an in house version too. Maybe someone else can verify this.

Some pics from GB. Saw another one like this at a GS, just the stock. Looked more like tupperware inletting but felt pretty good. Was just curious as I hadn't seen one like this before.

The picture at the link is a McMillan and is a very good stock. Some of the earlier stocks were made by Brown Precision and in my humble opinion, were the best of the two.
