Was time to spend some Savage $ so headed south. Quite a few 99s (35 plus) there, including John Allen and some of his. I bought a 22hp from John and 300 eg from friend who spent too much money on a Winchester and needed to recoup some cash. He gave me a deal I could not refuse. Also picked up pristine model 23 B (25-20 Win) which was considerable upgrade to my current 23B.
Put some time into convincing John that he should attend the 2018 Sauk City Savagefest with guns. I think he will be there? Last time in Wisconsin Fest was same dates as Wausau fall show, but not this year. Several of his guns (past tense) will be there (including 1 engraved one) for sure.
