Seller is advertising this 250-3000 as a 1913 gun. Has an aftermarket barrel. I don't have a date for the receiver, but a buyer will want to know whether this is hardened or not for the 250-3000 cartridge. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/752328279

That rifle, if the serial number is 1913, is certainly not correct. The 250-3000 initially came out in a configuration that later became the G, and later than 1913.

Re-blued rust rat. A lot of metal was filed and buffed off that receiver and it still shows pitting under the blue. Notice how wide the gaps are on the side of the tang and how proud the sear screw is. Bless his heart.

No foolin' its been filed down. The radius cut on the left side of the receiver (photo 27) is nearly gone. At what point does that compromise strength?

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you mean by hardened for the .250-3000? Was a different process required for the higher pressure or something?

The 250-3000 was loaded to higher pressures than the earlier cartridges so the receivers were made with tougher metal. There was a thread on this a few years ago. David
