Howdy folks, new to the forum but did lurk here for a while for reasons to lengthy to go into. I am a shooter and not a collector so haunted this site for information before purchasing 4 Savage 99's in the original Savage calibers. I wanted to avoid taking a chance on picking up a highly desirable rifle and de-valueing it through ignorance. So a great big thanks to all for the education I recieved on the Savage 99.

Sorry no pic's no digital camera and a severe case of being technically challanged. Will give a brief discription of what I aquired.
EG 300 s/n 708491 lbc 20 and either an E or F Swiss Rat with sling studs and scope, long L shaped gouge in butt stock, been varnished while fully assembled some varnish on the metal parts.Good bore and mecanically sound shoots great. Have taken one small Mule deer buck with it. Hand load of 125 Sierra 40 Gr.AA2015 Vel.2792. About 80 yds. bang flop as they say.

1899 22HP takedown I think mfg. 1913 s/n 139548. Kind of a swiss rat has had European claw style bases installed, plus sling studs one of which is soldered to the barrel blueing fair wood finish sparse and filthy inside and out.Chunk of buttplate missing. Hand made some rings installed Leupold 2x7, shoots fair with Norma and handloaded Hornady's. Works good on called coyotes.

99A 303 mfg.1920? s/n 224713. Pretty much all original gray rat with very little wood finish left, wood very dry and rough. Steel buttplate has some pretty deep rust pits. Good bore and lock up. Sights aren't really compatible with my old eyes, but shoots prtty good with jacketed and cast bullets. Haven't hunted it yet.

1899 250 3000 takedown mfg 1915? s/n 174824. Swiss rat with sling studs, front one a barrel band type, been rebarreled, checkering almost worn off forend, twin tang cracks, blue 70%, stock finish almost non existant. Mounted 2x7 Leupold, shoots so so with Rem 100 grain factory loads. Does much better with hand loads featuring 85 Nosler, and 87 Sierra's. Took 4x4 Mule deer Buck with the 100 grain Rem's at approx 150 yards, one shot stagger stumble and fall.

All have been cleaned up and wood refinished, minor repairs made and in general put into good shootable condition. Amazingly
the numbers all match on all 4 of them. Sorry about the long reply.
