We made it up to Willow for restart this year. 25*, sunny, and no wind at all. My buddy is friends with Mitch Seavey and was there helping as a handler. We hung out with the team and had moose burgers washed down with a couple of cold ones. I dusted it out of there about 50 racers in so to beat the traffic. The place was packed!

I was looking at the 'full standings' and there is one listed as 'scratched'. I notice her speed (mph) was the only one above 10 mph. Was she used to set a fast pace, early in the race (commonly known as a rabbit) and then dropped out?

Wife and I were in Alaska for vacation last sprint, went to one of the sled dog camps to play with puppies and learn about the race, it's eye opening how organized and expensive it is and how much care those dogs get during the race!

Wow.

Makes me think, WTH do these guys do if they are sick and lose their voice? Do any of them whistle to command their teams? I know my kids and dogs hear my whistles way better than a voice command.

Looks like herdin' cats up a rope to me! Them and horses, no thanks.

My Honda quits beating the sheit out of me when I let off the throttle. Just the way I like it.

Low snow year for sure. There are a few times recently that the Iditarod start was moved to Fbks because we had insufficient snow here in southcentral and a lot of the trail.

Congrats to DeeDee Jonrowe for making one last start. She's had a helluva career. I think I'd rather be on the trail snuggled between the Berrington twins tho.

Look at her race history and you will she is very experienced in scratching... she has started 8 races and finished two or something like that.
