I shot my 280AI Titanium Pierce receiver rifle today. It shot the 140 partitions at 1". I'm going to load 168 grn. Accubond LR bullets to try next. I have Reloader 10-12-15-17 and 25. I have H4350, H4831, Imr4895, and VV170 on the shelf. Any help will be appreciated.

With 168's, I'm guessing that the 25 and 4831 will be the ticket. I loaded 140's, 150's, and 154's in my 280 and 280AI. 4350 and 17 are better for those weights.

With 160s I was shooting IMR 7828 and RL 22. I tried some other but those seemed a bit more accurate. I think I wound up settling on 7828.

I have my old Remington 721 in 270 that I plan on re-barreling to a 280 AI. It has nothing to do with the barrel being bad, as a matter of fact it shoots fine. I have my Dad's Rem 700 270, so I figured I would change mine to something different. Could I buy a new gun cheaper than putting on a new barrel, yes probably?? But when I am done with a new barrel, stock and trigger I will have a semi custom rifle that will still be mine and will have something that means more to me other than just another gun.

It would make a great rifle. Keep the old parts though. I think I also have 7828.

I've had good luck with either RL22 or R17 and 150 TTSX's.

I don't always venture out into the sub-freezing darkness, but when I do, it is deer hunting season, and I carry a Remington. Stay hungry my friends.

I will load some with 7828 and some with 4831 and try them. 7828 has been good for me in a couple of 280AIs even with bullets as light as 150's.

In my Kobe built .280 AI with a 24" Shilen barrel, I use Nosler book max H4831sc for 120, 140 and 150 grain ballistic tips with excellent velocity and all inside the same group smaller than 1" at 100 yards.

OK, I loaded with H4831sc and RL22 with 168 Barnes LRX bullets. My buddy shot it and said the H4831sc shot 1.5" groups and the RL22 shot 2 together and the 3rd about 3/4" away. He shot 3 groups with ea. load. Was a little disappointed, but while fooling around the shop awhile ago I found the barrel stub. It said 10twist. Since I chambered the barrel, it is on me for not checking. I need to load a few different kind of 140s and see what happens.

Ain’t a thang wrong with 140’s even if you prefer 150’s. Been that route with several of my .284’s

Butch,
The most consistently accurate load in the three .280 AI rifles I've fooled with has been around 60 grains of H4831 (whether short or "long" cut) and the 150-grain Nosler Ballistic Tip. Muzzle velocity is around 3000 fps in a 22" barrel, and it's a great all-around hunting bullet.
I realize you don't have any 150 BT's, but in several .280's H4831 has also been a great powder with 140-150 grain bullets.

H4831 has been good in all of my 280 Remington’s. Have yet to try it in my AI, but I plan to.

Butch, I'm the quintessential .280AI loony, it's a sickness. Having said that, I've settled on two powders, IMR7828 for 160gr. bullets and R22 for the 140's and 150's. My Brown Precision Mod.70 likes 160 Nosler Partions and 60.5grs of IMR7828 for about 2940fps out of its 24" Krieger. I've Killed eight bull elk with this load, my largest to date(near record book) antelope and a couple mule deer bucks. My other .280AI, a Remington M700 also with a Krieger, likes150gr NBT and 60grs of R22 for about 3050fps. This load in this rifle is extremely accurate, five shoots @ 100yds generally under an inch and some times nearly half that. BTW, I've always enjoyed seeing photos of your rifles.
