I have a renowned riflebuilder telling me that a featherweight barrel is significantly more difficult to work with. Can someone enlighten me here? What is the problem? I know the contour is thin and I know the barrel tapers but so do others. What makes the fwt unusually difficult?

I don’t want to name names because that is not the point.

I never noticed anything especially difficult about the ones I did. Don’t know what to think.

shouldnt be an issue if there is enough shoulder on the barrel to chuck it in the lathe and get the set up straight and true

What he said. Might try a different "smith".

The only true cost of having a dog is its death.
