RE their attempt at punishing Vista Outdoors. I was going to cancel my membership, but then realized that their Board of Directors election is happening now. There are no good candidates, but I learned that we can vote “withhold” for each candidate. They have to get more “for” votes than “withholds” to be elected. Maybe this is the one way to send them a message.

That is an outstanding idea, if only to let them know that many of their members are more than just fashion driven anti-gun types.

If REI is taking on Vista... That are a bit outgunned.

Vista could buy and sell them with the change in their pockets.

OK, seriously,
What is REI or Vista?
Why would a guy want/need a membership?
Why would we care?

I sure could go for some $2.50/gal gas and a mean tweet!

Vista owns multiple outdoor related companies, including Savage Arms, Bushnell, Federal ammo, etc.

REI is boycotting everything from Vista until Savage stops making semiauto rifles. So.. all outdoorsmen are boycotting REI. We'll see who gets hurt the most.

Those few here who are on FB and/or have REI cards can perform valuable service for the rest of us. I could never make it to the front door after reading all the climate change related bumper stickers, I'm with her, coexist, rainbows, BLM, and the like. So get in there and make your point.

Looks like a great place to buy a pair of hemp sandals............

I DID stop at Academy Sports in Tupelo MS the other night. Mostly to look at the golf section. I went to the gun counter, just out of curiosity, and was surprised to see several AR 15's, and even a few AR 10's. Not only did they have a decent selection of "Modern Sporting Rfles", but they even had a halfway knowledgeable guy behind the counter.

I didn't think Academy was carrying AR's anymore. Has anyone here heard of a policy change? I'd not mind buying a set of golf clubs from an outfit that actually supports our second amendment rights and isn't ashamed to have an NRA member as a customer.

REI is owned by the customers. I have been one of those customers, and have the opportunity of becoming one of those owners by joining thier membership (small fee, and does give discounts on merchandise) I have bought several simple hammocks from them, and keep a couple in my truck, and my hunting pack.
They do not sell anything gun related that I am aware of, but a lot of outdoor gear. Good place to shop for camping gear. (That is thier appeal).

An unemployed Jester, is nobody's Fool.

the only real difference between a good tracker and a bad tracker, is observation. all the same data is present for both. The rest, is understanding what you're seeing.

Recreational Equipment, Inc (REI) is a co-op with 17 million members. Twenty five years ago and more REI was a great place to get outdoor gear, but nowadays they're more of a high priced outdoor fashion clothing outlet for yuppies. Their boycott won't hurt Vista as much as it will push REI further into irrelevance. Apart from REI branded merchandise they sell nothing that can't be purchased online for a lower price.

The majority of REI members are very unlike 24 members. The board will be seated easily.

Have not been thru an REI doorway in 25 years or more. F'kng Yuppies....and overpriced merchandise.

REI is more about neon colored bragging-rights equipment for campers and climbers than much of anything useful to hunters or shooters.

I always figured that neon crap was so they could find camp (or each other) again, on a clear, bright day.
