Blanket, I could be wrong on the model but if memory is correct that tractor brought close to six figures.

Lvmiker, with all due respect, in rgrx's case the orange paint look pretty damn good!

I had a JD 318 for a long time. Sam most of the 100- 8010's were converted to 8020's due to recall . Still a rare tractor

Just not sure JD is still better than the others any more. After much do diligence, I went Kubota. When compared to the current foreign made JDs Case IHs and NHs they stack up pretty well.

Sam, added some green to my earlier post.

I used to buy old, dead two cylinders JDs and get them going and sell them. It was mostly buy there for a while. That's why I had 13. It was fun for a while but I got burned out. The fun part was the search. After that it was work. Pretty satisfying to hear one start up after sitting dead for years though.

Blanket, then it was probably an 8020.

I remember it was all original and he had it down in a field dinking around and lost a piece/attachment of some sort. He looked and looked but never did find it.

I don’t have pictures but helping out at Grandpa’s we all cut our teeth cultivating the shelter belt with a John Deere M. That two cylinder song still sings in my head. For his field work we used a pair of Minneapolis Moline G6’s. In line 6 cylinder diesel, no cab and hand clutch. My cousin’s husband ran a MM G1000 and we thought that was huge. Times sure have changed

The 4020 JD's are almost a cult tractor. A 4020 was the first big tractor I ever drove, helping a neighbor. He had it repoed the next year. They still bring good prices at auction, with the last one I saw sell bringing $10,000. The thing about Deere, is how well they maintain their resale value. I've only owned one green tractor, and it is a sub-compact JD. My in-laws farm about 5000 acres, and they run nothing but JD's, I pick at them every time I go in their shop, as I always look in the bathroom and ask them when they're going to paint the toilet green.
