Any experience?

20v Max vs 40v Max?

I have 4 - 20V batteries from other tools, so I am leaning towards the 20v, but am I giving up too much "power" by not going with the 40v?

Will only be used for residential use around landscaping and sidewalks/driveway.

Thanks.

Got the 40v. I like it.

Get the 60v.

I've got a bunch of the Dewalt Flexvolt 60v tools and they are the bomb. I'm going to keep on buying them until I'm completely cord free.

Bought the 20V a couple of years ago - love it. Plenty of power and battery life for my medium sized yard. Love not dealing with temperamental gas units! Charge up the battery and go.

A bunch of DeWalt 20V tools kept me in that size; the Flexvolt looks interesting...

How long can you get off one charge and what size battery are you using? THANKS.

Using a 4.0Ah battery, the 20V lasts about 30 minutes on low speed; plenty for "normal" trimming. Cutting down the jungle shown in the video would be on high - only lasts about 10 minutes.

I have the 60v trimmer along with their contractor drill. Love mine. One nice thing is you can use the 60v batteries on the 20v tools of which I have almost all they sell. Can you tell that I am a Dewalt whore. Dave

So far I've got the 12" sliding mitre saw, the circular saw, the sawzall and the table saw. The mitre uses 2-60v batteries or you can plug it into the wall. I've got a 20v drill that I always use a 60v battery with. Great flexibility.

All of them are outstanding tools and I will be buying the trimmer when I can find one on sale.

Do yourself a favor: Get one and you won't be disappointed.

I have the 40V with 4 amp hour battery, same as my hedge trimmer.

I can weed eat my 1 acre place, house, sidewalks and 3 car garage mostly on a single charge.

If I have large growth, after rains here in the swampland, I switch batteries after about 45 minutes. Recharge in les than 90 minutes, full power for most of the charge. I'm done with 2 cycle engines!

Plenty of power, but the real advantage is the Dewalt string: it's a slow twist double polymer coated wire that cuts very efficiently, doesn't break against concrete or chain link fence like most common string.
I save lot of time, not having to stop as often to change string. I recommend it to all my friends.

I bought a 40v today on eBay. Couldn’t pass it up at the price and I had a coupon.

I sold my Echo and went with the DeWalt 20V. It's plenty for what we do and for my son's lawn service (3-5 lawns/wk). It's not a bush-hog like the Echo but it's quiet and smooth to run which makes it much more enjoyable to use!!

BTW - we also went with the 60V blower and it works but really drains the batteries fast. I purchased a quick-charger and am planning on picking up a 2nd 9AH battery too......
