Finally was able to get out and shoot my Fieldcraft in 7mm-08. I am going to post a few pictures, I will warn all those that say a three shot group is no good, that with a hunting rifle that's what I do. I am not a magazine, just a dude with rifle. I will shoot multiple 3, 4, 5 shot groups to verify once I find a loading with promise. I really think this is a slick lightweight. All the loads so far have been the very first loads through the rifle. I hope to hone them further with adjusting seating depth, they are all 2.82 or so, plenty of room in the mag box. Winchester Factory 140gr PP 44.0 Gr RL-15 120 gr Nos BT 45.0 Gr RL-15 120 Nos BT- Velocity was 2900 fps (measured by Magneto-speed) 44.0 Gr Varget 120 NBT 45.0 Gr Varget 120 NBT-Velocity was 2920 fps (measured by Magneto-speed)

Really happy with my Fieldcraft 18 inch. 6.5 creedmoor. I've only shot a couple of groups, 15 rds, to get my scope in the ball park. This group was with Hornady American Whitetail 129 gr. shots 7, 8, and 9 at 50 yards. It started to rain so I packed up and went home, Ronnie and Chris build quality !

I picked up my 6.5 cm from the FFL last night. Very happy with it so far. I thought the Geissele trigger in my AR was nice, but was blown away by the Timney.
I did find that the bolt will bind if you are applying upward pressure to the bolt knob and you start to push it back forward. This is easily resolved by technique, but I wanted to see if others have noticed the same thing.
My scope arrives tomorrow and if I can find some Hornady Match ammo I intend to go shoot it Saturday.

I like what I see and what I am reading about these rifles my only hesitation is the blind mag. Never had one . All my rifles have trap doors. That and I cant find one locally to hold. I will probably end up with one in 7mm08.

I much prefer rifles without floor plate.
My rifles are loaded in the magazine most of the time. My rifles with floor plates get a drop of JB Weld in release button.

I'm used to ARs and pistols, so the lack of a floorplate or detachable mag seemed like a drawback to me. Now that I've handled the rifle a bit, I think it is in keeping with the purpose of the Fieldcraft. Unloading 4 rounds isn't a big deal.

I'm betting you'll grow accustomed to it - particularly with so much goodness wrapped around it.

I just got a .308 a couple of weeks ago but have not fired it yet. Feels and looks great for the most part. Have loaded up some Scirocco IIs and A Frames on top of IMR 4064 and will take to the range this weekend and see how it shoots.
One thing I noticed is when I close the bolt with a cartridge in, there is a good bit of resistance, almost too tight IMO....like I am jamming something where it isn't supposed to be.....no matter how short the cartridge is. I went down to 2.7 and it feels the same as 2.89. Has anyone else noticed this?

I'd bet your brass isn't sized down far enough to fit the reasonably tight Barrett chamber.

I have certainly noticed the Barrett chamber is match grade tight, but I full length size all my hunting ammo.

So much for Nosler Custom Brass being "ready to load"..... It is unless it ain't. I always used to partial-size new brass until I read that some don't bother. Now I check it for fit in my chamber and for neck tension and length. I check the loaded ones' outside neck diameter and chamber fit again. Had some .243 brass (not Nosler) with very uneven necks that had to be turned before the loaded ones would fit the tight chamber in my Number 1.
What fresh Hell is this?

My 6.5 Fieldcraft is off getting a walnut stock. Look forward to shooting it this summer. I'd be interested to hear more about this... Are you sending the factory stock off to be duplicated? I know it would depend on the grade of wood, but ball park price?

I know it would depend on the grade of wood, but ball park price? Look here. These guys are real craftsman building beautiful stocks. Mine is being done using some black walnut cut back in the 50s by my grandfather for the purpose of making a stock. Its not a duplicate of the factory stock, but similar. I asked for a slightly shorter forend, a shorter 13.5” LOP, and a slightly thinner profile in the grip and forend. Their stocks have a full length aluminum bedding block too. The end result I hope to be a little modern in the Fieldcraft and bedding with some old school walnut with family ties. The stock has is coming along. Needs checkering and final finishing. I’m told the rifle weight is right at 6lb (no scope yet). I have a 3-10 SHV waiting for it. https://www.aigunstocks.com/design-your-gunstock/
