Wasn't making much, but was making a living. Eileen and I had gotten married in the fall of '83, and I was trying hard to start making enough money so she could quit teaching at the U. of Montana and finish her novel. Managed to do that, partly by moving to a small town in central Montana that had a much lower cost of living than Missoula, and was surrounded by much emptier country, with plenty of good hunting and fishing.
