5 miles walk

Mike (or anyone else w/ experience)-- are you still bullish on ultralight down quilts? Wife is about to buy a 20F one for their High Sierras backpacking trip this summer.

Got on the stationary bike for the first time in 10 weeks, felt good even with the plastic boot on. Did intervals, couldn't do as much as pre-surgery but that was no surprise. Cranked out 400 calories in just over 30 minutes, then did a few leg machines. Didn't want to push it too hard, I was strung out on Ibuprofen.

I hate the feeling of high-dose ibuprofen. Hate it. They tried to put me on 800 mg every 4 hours as an anti-inflammatory a few decades ago, for a foot problem, and I couldn't even work. I was working in a metal fab shop (college summer job), and it was hot, and the ibuprofen made me feel like a giant floppy stupid noodle. Not ok when working with machines that might as well be labeled "human meat grinder". smile

I like my current solution much, MUCH better. Appears to have all the anti-inflammatory properties minus most of the side effects.

Ibuprofen doesn't bother me, that was just a joke and an acknowledgement that it's not a good idea to push it when your pain is masked.

On the sheep hunt 2 1/2 years ago I was taking 2000 mg/day. It's a wonder drug, at least for me. I tried cbd for my ankle pain, didn't do a thing for me. Neither did accupuncture, tart cherry juice, and just about anything else you can name.

Jeff for “summer-ish” temps I’m still using quilts, for everything else I’ve gone bag to bags.

Just let her know there is a little bit of a learning curve with quilts- one you need a adequate head covering, two you have to practice a bit with what ever attachment system you use- if you don’t, you’ll be be paid with drafts, lastly go a little wider than what the manufacturer recommends- a little wider is better than a little narrow

Tiny Elvis and I got 4.5 miles in- on snowshoes, 8-10” of new snow

Mike- thanks, I passed that along. smile

SP- I agree ibuprofen is miraculous and I'm glad it works for you. Does me too- except at higher doses. I am, however, enjoying my break from it and intend to prolong my break from NSAIDs as long as I can. Then again I didn't have my [bleep] ankle fused. smile

Keep up the good work guys.

Haven't posted here in a long time.

Quick 1/2 hour workout this morning. No rest between exercises, 1 minute rest between each iteration:

3 mins on thai bag
DB lunges
DB 1-legged stiff leg dl
Ring dips
Chins
1 min on heavy rope
Ab roller
1 min rest then back to the top. First round light warmup, crank it up for the next 3.

Still hammering out 100 burpee's a day in some form or fashion. Yesterday was burpee to a pull-up as fast as I could do them. I think in a few weeks I'll graduate to wearing a weight vest during this routine. Still adding kettle bell, and sandbag HIIT when I have the time. Last night after I got home from work instead of flopping down and mindlessly droning at the TV, I picked up my sandbag and went up and down my stairs as many times as I could for ten minutes. Rested five minutes then knocked out 10 minutes of various kettle bell swings. Paced back and forth to cool down then stepped out onto my back porch into the 17* air and stood for about ten minutes. Took a shower and hit the sack lights out.

Nice, looking forward to the day I can strap on a pack. Hopefully soon. Did cardio at the gym, 30 minutes of intervals on the bike, then 20 on the arm bike.

Mike- Does the MR weigh 40 lbs by itself or is that with weight added. 😁

6 miles hiked. Gettin' Cyn ramped back up. Looks like we are doing the Lost Coast backpack in mid-May. Elevation gain for the 25 mile route: 50 feet. smile

Mike- You are even more of an animal than I thought, but your math skills are somewhat lacking.
That’s 180 lbs.🙃
Probably more like 200 in a MR.
