I know this is an old post but have to ask. Mohawk where did you get that scope base from?

The only "bolt right up" scope base I know of for the 600/660's is the Leupold XP-100, which is a one piece, windage adjustable base.
However, you can have a second hole drilled and tapped in the rear bridge for a two piece base. My buddy has one with Talley Lt. Wts. and I've got the Gentry rings and bases. E

The Leupold site also lists a Double Dovetail one piece base for the xp-100, which will fit the 600/660. I've got a weaver base for a 600 that came on one of my rifles. I'm pretty sure you can still get that, also.

Model 600s in 308 Win and 6mm Rem, nuther one rebarreled to 22-250, matched pair of Model 660's in 6.5mm Rem Mag and 350 Rem Mag, NEED a 660 in 222.

I own several 600's in 6mm,243,and 308.
On one of my 308's i put the Leupold dual dovetail base and rings.
They are hell for strong too as it holds zero far better than the Weaver setup.
On my 243 i used the standard Leupold one piece base which is the same one used on the M700 SA.
Thinking of switching it over to the DD as well.
Others sport the Weaver one piece base and Weaver rings.
Strangely enough every vent rib 600 or Mohawk i have bought used, save one, had the Weaver one piece base already on it.
These rifles are probably one of the most unique and sought after little rifles Remington ever made.
I have never shot one that did not group well.
My little 243 using Federal blue box ammo can keep three shots inside a dime and both 308's using Federals can keep three inside a quarter.
I have no intentions of ever selling these wonderful little tools.
