Watch the video of the arrest of the Toronto mass killer. I can't believe the cop didn't kill him. He tried several times to get the officer to shoot him They must have different training than US police.

This response is not unique to Canada, Look at video from most civilized countries and you see the same brave tempered approach. It is only American cops and similar types form Chad, Somalia, Nigeria, the cowardly types, that arrive as a group of bullies and thugs to execute rather than arrest. But than American cops "fear for their lives" and want to go home... after firing off several dozens rounds. Who would you rather patrol your neighborhood?

Key word in your response is “civilized” , I have no hesitation in saying that much of our nation is not civilized. Which cop would I want patrolling my neighborhood?....... the kind that exterminates the parasites of our society. The entire country of Canada would have been better off if that cop had dropped that guy where he stood rather than spending millions of dollars housing his ass for the rest of his life!

Just to give you a fair analysis Canada had 133 police officers killed from 1961-2010 in the line of duty, that’s 133 killed in 48 years. We had 133 killed last year alone. Yeah I think I’d be thinking about wanting to go home to my family and fearing for my life too!not really an equal comparison between nations.

Brave tempered approach ? Your kidding hopefully. I havent seen it but I have heard there is a video floating around showing the cop dropped his gun. Regardless, this cop got lucky thats all. If that terrorist would have actually had a gun that cop would be dead on the street. Believe me your police dont have a corner on brutality. We have a case here in Yukon right now where an RCMP beat an inebriated fellow in broad daylight in the middle of a grocery store parking lot. Not long ago a couple of officers got caught raping females they were arresting. The entire detachment knew it was going on too. Would you want this bunch patrolling your streets??

The problem here is that our dirty cops just get transferred, very seldom do they get charged like US cops do. The grass always looks greener on the other side of the fence, but looks are often deceiving. Especially when the mainstream media WANTS you to like socialist Govt.

Yeah, so now the folks up north will piss off $50,000 -$75,000 a year on the pos for another 50 years keeping him comfy and with 3 squares. Aint that just freaking wonderful.

If you're arrested under suspicion in most European countries, word has it that you should just expect to get a few days of beating, food deprivation, etc., to encourage you to confess, before ever seeing an attorney. No thanks. I think I'll take US police procedures over those in all those "civilized" countries.

It looked like a finger gun to me. Pretty sure it isn't a gun, maybe a wallet or some other object if not a finger. The cop was probably close enough to be certain. But I wouldn't have been critical of the cop if he had shot under the circumstances.

Most people don't really want the truth.

They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

To think American and Canadian cultures are comparable is laughable. At best.

Their po-po has to lock and secure their sidearm before they go home for the evening. WTF does that tell you?

Obviously you've never been anywhere near an armed situtation. The way that guy was acting like he was pulling out a gun he shoulda been filled full of holes. If he actually had one that officer would've been dead. You don't gambe you life in these situations.

I believe the min cause of police problems these days is lack of respect (both sides). American cops have become pros at harassment of the poor communities (both white and black) and revenue collectors. There is a lot of truth to the old saying that the difference between a cop and a crook is a badge. We do an abominable job of screening applicants, than seem to pick the most violent prone and make the SWAT!
I truly think the uptick in cop killings is due to the fact that purps now think there are going to be killed anyway, so might as well try to shoot their way out of it.

Yeah, US popo should just stay out of the slums and lets the winos, dopers, thugs and hoods sort things out. Im sure you think their pay is worth rolling around on the ground with an aids infected zero or chasing a crook down a dark alley.
