Any G2 owners had this problem? I got a new 7.62x39mm barrel. It went on fine, but when I cracked the action, the barrel would only travel a small way and stop. I gave it a few gentle wiggles, but something is stopping it from opening fully. Anyone have a suggestion?

Hows it lock up, close it on a piece of thin tablet paper, and see if the paper can be removed while locked.

Hi. It locks up fine. The paper will not move when it is closed.
Edited: MGM got back to me. It appears that the extractor is blocking movement of the barrel. More to come.

Then I have no idea, the pin location seems correct, the barrel diameter is about the only other factor.

Has this frame worked with any barrels?
I had it happen to me. I had about a half dozen barrels. I bought a new G2 frame through Bullberry and had them do a trigger job before shipping it to me. None of my barrels would function correctly. First, TC sent me replacement extractor parts. That didn't fix the problem. I sent the frame back and they replaced it ... different serial numbered part in the box. After testing function, I sent it back to Bullberry with a check for another trigger job. They did the trigger job and sent back my torn up check. I will **always** be a fan of Bullberry and their customer service. They will be my first go-to for barrels. They did not owe me that, was not their fault.

Okay, MGM got back to me. There was too much metal on the angled area of the extractor, or the angle was wrong. This excess metal hung up on the frame and would not allow the barrel to open fully. I took off some metal, as per their instructions, but will be getting a new extractor. Once a few thou of metal was removed, it worked. The extractor is probably not treated metal, but it's best to get a replacement. For now, I can use it, will mount the scope tonight, etc. The angle to which I refer is circled.

Was gonna suggest closing it back up and popping the pin pulling the barrel upwards to remove it. See ya got it figured out though.

How ya got it out of USA?? Etc. I'm only in Port Severn, originally Coldwater. If ya don't mind, could you call or I can meet you somewhere in Barrie???? 705-538-1361! Thanks for your time! William Bolyea PS, or I would settle for a HR in 223 & do a bbl. stub.

http://nine35.caThis is the barrel website. The business is located in southern Ontario. The website is very primitive. If you cannot locate what you want, email. The time from ordering unril delivery is about 4 mo.

I have had many brands of SS rifles, but only Ruger has been trouble free. Because I am in Canada, the extractor cannot be mailed directly to me, and must go through an importer. This is the same scenario as when I originally got my Contender. Some of you might remember that I received it, but TC forgot to include a hinge pin in the box. Getting the hinge pin took several weather events, two acts of God and a couple of congressional sittings to happen. Anyway, I have asked the company that had my hinge pin imported to handle the importation of the extractor. We live in interesting times.

Recapping: At the beginning of May, I received a 7.62x39mm Contender barrel with the wrong or incorrectly machined extractor. Six months later, I am still waiting for a replacement extractor. This is what I got from the importer. In a nutshell, my extractor jumped out of the box somewhere between Utah and Ontario. For some reason, I don't have much luck with single shots, but I keep at it nonetheless. Hi Steve,
I wanted to let you know what has happened. Apparently (I know, not the best way to start off) My shipment arrived last Friday and your extractor and a Pic scope mount had disappeared somewhere between MGM and my door. I am getting a new one sent and will have them send it a stand alone shipment.
Hopefully it will be here very soon.
Ron

You could probably get a G2 as a companion to your G1. I am sure that this extractor problem is an uncommon occurrence.

When it rains, it pours. I got the replacement extractor in the mail yesterday. Here's a picture of the replacement (lower) beside the original (upper). The width of the original is approx. 0.195 inches. What they sent was 0.250 inches wide. Do you think they sent me an Encore extractor?
