Hummingbirds showed up about a month ago, with a few small ones feeding, then poof! They've vanished. Changed the food in the feeders twice, but don't seem to be attracting them. How is the hummingbird watch going where you are at?

We are 7-10 days out from our normal first sighting. The weather has been a good 2-3 weeks behind from our average here so I am curious to see when they show. Weather really warms starting today and stays there according to the forecast so I am hoping they show up in the next 2 weeks like usual.

My syrup has been going down for almost a month now but it wasn't until an hour ago that I finally saw one of the little boogers. He's my backyard buddy, back again. Black-chinned variety. There are at least three pairs of them nesting nearby, and this one just about drives himself ragged trying to shoo off any of the others trying to get to "his" feeders.

I've got them here in SW Colorado. Males are starting to show up. I've got a couple at both my feeders----one on back porch, the other on the front porch.

We are covered up with hummingbirds. They started about 6 weeks ago and continue to grow in numbers. We go through about 4 quart feeders a week.

I’m thinking for this group Hummers have been MIA for awhile.

I have the best nesting material available for the Norwegian Elkhound fur! My dogs are blowing off their soft fluff undercoat. Hummers in my yard will be nesting like royalty if they use that.

I had one show up really early and haven't seen him or any others since.

They showed up at my house Saturday morning. Usually the first birds I see are migrators, headed north. About a half dozen are here and seem to be staying. They're hammering the feeders! One female is about twice the size of the average bird and by far the largest I've ever seen. It sure is good to have them back.

Pretty sure I heard one going over the house on Friday. Haven't seen any. The wife and I picked up a couple of new feeders on Saturday but it doesn't appear to be any rush to get them out. Taken 20 minutes ago.

Makes me wonder if they've been feeding on the red azaleas the past few weeks.

My first bird showed up about 10 days ago. There was 6-8 of em working the two feeders I have out when I went out to smoke my noontime pipe today. It won't be long before I'm refilling four feeders a day. I love having the little freeloaders around but they''ll be running me ragged by June.

I never end up with more than 4 or 5 at a time. I think my yard is way to open for them to feel safe. Friends down the way have a creekbed next to their yard with tons of willows and they have treble the amount of humming birds. Good cover and nesting habitat.

Our male hummers arrived April 8th, females April 12th. Maybe you can hang a red flowering plant near the feeder.
I feed our hummers a 2 water to 1 sugar ratio. My neighbors rarely see hummers. I think hummers like our nectar better.
