I came across this rifle recently. Other than some blueing loss at the muzzle and on the bolt knob it looks virtually new and original.

No iron sights, serial number 70-60731.

I know some guys really like these Flat Bolts. I am considering buying this one. Would you expect this to be from the Douglas barrel era?

What would you pay for it? Your thoughts appreciated.

Nice rifle. Built in 1972, mine was built in 1974 and is a tack driver. Barrels on mass produced rifles are a crap shoot. Strong smooth action. I paid $450 for mine 2 years ago with a custom stock. Custom stock probably took $100 off the value.

Nice find! I only have 1 flat bolt and it's a 243. I have 2 ST's that are round tops...270 and 30/06. If it were me, it would be a no-brainer, I would buy it!

yeah while every one raves about the Ruger Mexican.. I mean American...

give me the old school Rugers any day....even with a bad barrel..

I can always replace the barrel and have a great feeling rifle...

with the Ruger Mexicano-Americano... not so much...

I agree, Seafire. As much as I love Rugers, I don't own an American. Not saying I will never, as I've learned the hard way over the years that it's not always prudent to say "never".
