A leaking trap under a bathroom sink - fixed from inventory. I replaced the trap, tail piece, and all the nuts and ferrules. No trip to Home Depot, the stickers came off in one piece, and I didn't cut myself.

Is this heaven? Which trip to Home Depot did you pick up the inventory on? The day before? They must have been fresh stock if the stickers peeled off easily. That's the part I fear most.

We almost always have the pieces, since we live in teh country. But finding them...
One day I spent about 30 minutes looking for a supply line... to end up going to town anyway... and finding 2 of them when I was putting the next spare away...
Which is leading me to FINALLY, buy walmart stock in plastic bins and put parts away that way into the barn... it eventually helps anyway.. but some of that stuff I don't really want sititng in 100 plus degree heat 9 months of the year.... and as it was 97 on Saturday... UGH
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

Am just about finished gutting and redoing a small rental property that belongs to my mother but was really my late Dad's baby.....which was occupied by a hoarder for the last 19 years. The old lady who lived there paid like clockwork, didn't complain much, and all was well until she went to be with Jesus and the cleanup and repairs was up to yours truly. After Dad died in 2013, Mom left the old lady alone because she knew fixing the place was gonna be a nightmare. The old lady left Mom alone so no one would disturb the hoard.....as long as the roof didn't cave in, she was good.
There were small leaks everywhere that the old lady probably could not have seen because they were buried under metric tons of hoard. The floor level kitchen cabinets were destroyed by them as was most of the stuff in the bathroom. The kitchen sink leaked, bathroom sink leaked, the shower knobs leaked. I eventually got it ironed out but thinking about plumbing makes me break out in a cold sweat. Far as I am concerned, anytime you get it right the first time its cause for celebration.

one of my least favorite, but most satisfying things to do. nothing like plumbing a whole bathroom from scratch and having it work well. don't ask me how long it took. ok, it took a year and a half.

Is this heaven? When I run to the hardware store for a plumbing repair, it's gotten to the point that the guy behind the counter tell me they're having pizza and want to know when I'll be back and how much do I want?

Ever run to the hardware store just knowing it's 1-1/2 and when you get back find out it's 2"? Yup, my inventory consists of a 1-1/2" trap that doesn't fit any sink in the house.

Sort of a plumbing-related story that I heard the other day. There used to be a bar with a softball field attached to it in a less-than-tiny town near here. The site featured a six-hole outhouse, three on the men's side and three for the ladies on the other side of the partition. Naturally there was one communal deep drop. During one game, a man noticed that a woman with whom he shared a mutual hatred was headed for the facility. He allowed her time to take her seat, then entered the men's side and heaved a cement block down through one of the holes. From all accounts, the effect was quite satisfactory.
