Why is our recognition so important? Because it reaffirms Isriel's legitimacy which pisses off half the Arab world no end. The starting point for Hamas is that Israel does not exist. the old joke used to be damn nations and israel too. and why not do just that?
they probably do deserve a homeland. ancient israel was real enough, and the people got scattered.
some would argue that the land of israel is much larger than what is now occupied by the post-modern israelies.
the various factions are going to keep on keeping at it with each other, and somebody is going to wind up getting hurt.

This move isn't Trumps idea. It was passed by congress under Clinton with a veto-proof margin in both houses. Clinton let it become law without his signature. There was a clause that allows the president to delay it and Clinton, W, and Obama all delayed it "in the interest of peace". Trump's merely doing what congress wanted done. The Muslims will never allow peace in Israel so calling a delay as trying to have peace is a joke. I agree with Trump. Do what congress wanted done and screw the Muslims.

Deserve has nothing to do with anything in this world, basically you get to keep what you can. The Israelis know this...most Western citizens have forgotten it. woohoo! that's a pretty cold comment. kinda strikes to the heart of the matter though. being forced off the land and into the ocean is not a pleasant thought. in the early days, a good steel sword could make the difference. we've come a long ways. but slingshots are in use still. there's so many different solutions being offered.
