It is an old story. A tale told countless times by Chinese yak hunters with ugly wives.

I was in a tobacconist's lounge area enjoying a cigar and a conversation with an older fellow who had been a lot of places and done a lot of things. He told me something like "If you're at the bar, honky tonk or wherever and you're looking for a good time, then quit trophy hunting. Go ugly early."

I have a buddy who whenever we would go out to a bar would always say, "Better pick ya' out a fat ugly one now. There's gonna be a run on 'em later." laugh

I have eaten Yak many times. I have also been in remote places where I was wishing I would get abducted by a Yeti as long as it was female. And my 6.5x55 gets 264 Winchester velocity too whenever I can get the cases out.

SAY.....

Shouldn't we discuss the merits of the 6.5 Creedmoor some more, it seems it has been at least a day since someone wanted to say how blessed they were by making a decision on getting a 6.5. grin

As is almost always the case, once again I'm late to the table with repect to this thread. But I did want to say something about the 6.5 Creedmoor.
I now own four factory rifles so chambered, and here's the thing. All four shot less than moa with the first factory load tried in them. All shoot close to half moa with their favorite factory load.

I have a Kimber Hunter and a Savage Lightweight in the mix. Both are well under six pounds bare. Both shoot really well.

I have a Browning Hells Canyon sporter and a Cristensen Arms rifle too. Again both are relatively light sporters and these two are sub half moa if I do my part. With factory ammo.

So the Creedmoor gives us half moa factory rifles and ammo. Nothing else has ever done this before in my experience.

And that methinks,is what the fuss is all about.

And I think 6.5 Creed is practically perfect for any shade of Yak,but would defer to the judgement of Steve Tims, aka Dogzapper.

If I remember correctly,Steve and his lovely wife have slain Yak,and eaten such having cooked it afterwards .

My personal experience with Yak is far more limited,I once asked a Canadian guide where the Yak sleds were in his part of Canada. He told me they were scarce around Moose Jaw,and seemed offended that I even asked.

Which is the point anyway. You can't count on foreigners or Creedmoor bashers to think rationally about anything.

I'd like to thank Lu Yeng, hunter of yaks, and husband of an ugly wife. Yeng reminded me that eating yak is healthier than eating a Big Mac. But I believe eating uranium is healthier than eating a Big Mac.

In the meantime...

If Creedmoors Were Gold

If Rugers were silver,
And Creedmoors were gold,
I'd have much more deer meat,
Than my cellar could hold.

But Rugers aren't silver,
Nor Creedmoors pure gold,
So I'll stick with my lever
That's one hundred years old.

The Creedmoors are shiny,
And their sales are quite strong.
Just like the Short Magnums,
That have since come and gone.

But the shine will wear off,
And the fad will soon pass,
Replaced by the next thing,
Made of matte steel and brass.

And while I am waiting,
For the next craze to show,
I'll hoist my old lever,
And off hunting I'll go.

Very nicely put together!

Wow Yaks and poetry are as we say Potree.

No doubt cartridge case design has evolved. No doubt CNC machining can be more precise than the average journeyman apprentice with a file. I need to do the 6.5 Creedmoor Flanged and Nickle or Gold plate it and call it the 6.5 Yak.

So I am not knocking the CM by any means. Just knocking the hyoe and the blowhards who think it is golden Yak dung. It is a very good design and is made available in accurate packages for all price ranges.

Just don't load the dukey out of it and claim it is beyond Newtonian physics (Isaac not Charles).

I'm going to put a 6.5 Creed barrel on one of my Palma guns just to see the comments!
