Mule Deer,

I’ve found your “loads that work” extremely helpful in the past. In general, would you expect a long throated custom barrel to take a little more powder to get to the velocity node that gives the best accuracy when compared to a chamber with a shorter or average throat?

Thank you!

Yes, I do expect to use more powder in longer-throated chambers, but not necessarily to find an "accuracy node." Long-throated rifles can be very accurate--if the throat is just slightly larger than bullet diameter, preventing bullets from tilting before hitting the rifling.

Generally, a little more powder must be added to reach typical velocities.
