Good Afternoon,

Am considering reaming the above .22LR into a .22WMR.
Comments?

I think you will find that a 22LR has a different twist rate than a 22WMR. I know they do on bolt guns so that is one problem you will have.

That is a tuffy! I know they are different bores,so I don't think it would work, However with the interchangeable revolver cylinders, are the barrels bored to magnum specks????? I don't know.

Twist rate might make it tough to shoot heavier bullets as well, but may not and there are plenty of options for lighter bullets in the 22mag. I would do it in a heartbeat if that is what I wanted.

You might want to ask this question over at the Savage 24 Discussion Board:
http://disc.server.com/Indices/180203.html
I believe several people over there have either done it or know of people that have done this on a Savage 24.

Pullit, thank you for the warm welcome.

Harold, as far as rifling twist goes on the Savage 24's for 22 versus 22 Mag, if you take this web address:
http://www.savage24.com/ , then click on the link for the photo gallery, then the link for the Savage catalogs, the 1978 catalog I have out there shows an identical 1 in 16 inch twist for both the 22 & the 22 Mag. Once you get to the catalog, click on the 3rd page, then click the bottom link for 'full sized', it's quite readable at full size. Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone,
I'll post at the other forum for leads.
