I want another bolt action 35 Whelen but there aren't many companies making rifles in that caliber and I don't want another M700. I had kind of settled on a Nosler M48 but after handling one the LOP is too short. I think the only other option is a Cooper M52. I have one in 280AI and it's a super accurate rifle but they use a 1-10" twist barrel in 35 Whelen and I plan to shoot 225's as my primary bullet. Another option would be reboring an 06 or 270 but I'd like to get some feedback from those that have done it how it worked out. Also, who did the rebore?

In the process of doing similar myself. The three companies I am aware of that are still active in the Rebore Space are:
1) JES Reboring - Good rep here on 24HCF. Quick turnaround. But, only does .338" bore diameter and up. 2) Classic Barrel and Gunworks - Earlier this week, voicemail stated that they were more than 100 jobs behind and not taking new work. 3) Oregunsmithing - Will do smaller bore diameters. Have not heard anything negative about them. Since I am looking to rebore a .22-250 to 6.5x55, this is where my rifle is headed. Hope to have first hand experience in 3-4 months.

My one experience was sending a rusty Marlin 30-30 to JES to be bored to 38-55 about 2 years ago. Extremely positive results, less than 2 week turnaround, very accurate with about anything I feed it. I've only shot home cast bullets in this one and have no plans for jacketed bullets.

Why do you say that? Care to elaborate? I had a good experience the one time I used JES and have heard nothing but positive experiences from many folks who have.

I had JES bore a 30-06 to 338-06. Shoots great. As mentioned above, very quick turn around.

JES rebored a 35 for campfire member justahunter. It had problems from the start and JES recommended that he shoot factory ammo in it. It blew up on the first shot. JES did not stand behind anything or make anything right. Use JES at your own risk....... I won't send them anything

I sent a Tikka T3 Lite 30-06 bought brand new to JES. It was rebored to 35 Whelen with a 3 groove 1-14 twist. I believe it cost me $225.00 and took two weeks to get it back.
The only load I've shot through it so far has been a handload with Hornady 200gr. SP that I use in my Encores. Groups are less than an inch with several groups where all three shots are touching.
This is the only rebore I've ever done and based on it I would have no problem sending JES another one.

According to him he shot it several times and was using military brass as well.. anyhow here is the tale as told by justahunter http://forums.accuratereloading.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3221043/m/9011013622/p/1

Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

I had JES rebore a 30-06 with a Douglas barrel that shot patterns instead of groups. As a 35 Whelen it shot great groups.
Quick turn around and good communication. I would recommend JES without question.

We know you are a published writer and all I didn't know . . . . can you please elaborate? He had a hunting story published in some hunting mag.. so he's a published author. So we all should take what he says as gospel..

Several years back JES rebored my Tikka 270 to 35 Whelen took 3 weeks and it is a very accurate gun!
Just last month I had JES rebore a Kimber .308 to .358 win, again turn around was 3 weeks or less. I have only shot it a little since I having scope trouble with it. Hope to get out next week with a new scope and do some testing.
