Does anyone have access to Hornady .308 load data for a 150gr SST. Only manuals I have are Speer, Sierra, and Barnes. Wanting to try some SST handloads but haven't been able to find a load manual locally for Hornady. Thanks for the help.

You can download a PDF copy of the current manual for $20. Well worth it. Loads for lots of old and/or odd cartridges too.

What powders do you have or are thinking about using?

Have imr 4064, varget, benchmark, mainly trying to find something close to 2800 fps. Trying to duplicate the hornady custom factory load.

Of the powders you listed they only show data for IMR4064 (44.9gr) and Varget (44.9gr) with 150gr bullets and both top out at 2700fps.

Powders they list for 2800fps with 150gr bullets are SW Tactical, IMR4895, RL15, CFE223 and Power Pro 2000MR.

Guess I'll have to shop for some more powder. Several factory loads advertise 2820 which is what this hornady load shows. Which is probably a blend I'm sure. Just am trying to duplicate the hornady load.

I find Hornady's 44.9 max with Varget to be soft under a 150. I've loaded a bunch of 165's on top of 46 grains of Varget.

Work up carefully, but 2800+ with a 150 and Varget shouldn't be any problem at all. (Assuming normal length barrel here.)

All barrels are at 21-24 inches. Have 6 rifles trying to build one load for. I thought hornady load data looked light. My sierra, online nosler, and a few other books have a higher max load. Didn't know if the hornady bullets had a longer bearing surface/higher pressure or what.

I tried that with the 300 Savage and gave up. What I settled on was combinations from one powder, two different charge weights, and two different bullets.

I agree, Varget and a 150 should get to 2800, easily. Mine shoots a 155 over 2900 with less than a book load.

FWIW, Hodgdon lists a max of 47gn Varget with a 150BT for 2937. The start load is 44 for 2788.

That's what has me puzzled. Nosler BT is about same profile at Hornady SST. Why is one showing a max of 44.9 and other data a start at 44. Just gonna have to work it one load one rifle at a time.

In my Rem 700 308 with 22" barrel, 47gns of Varget produced a 10 shot average of 2727 fps. You cant always believe what the "BOOK" says.

If you want to get over 2900fps with a 150gn SST I would suggest Alliant PowerPro 2000-MR or W748.

I've had no trouble at all with the 150 grain Interlock flat base on top of 47+ grains of Varget lit by a CCI200, even in Lapua brass which is relatively thick. This is in factory chambers.

Added: Work up with that SST.
