Yes James, we bought most of the cedars. We have lots in ditches as well, and have transplanted some. The red cedars are sort of a desperation choice. My father planted Austrian pine years back. They are about all dead now, Pine wilt disease. I tried a few white cedars, and rabbits ate them down.

I am over run with red cedars.......but, it's mostly because I let them grow. I use them for posts, and also for a place for the cows to get into in the winter. They make excellent cover for animals. I have even let the local Mennonites come in and thin them down some.

Me too! I hate them. I have cut a bunch, mostly the female trees. Birds eat the berries, and deposit them, with fertilizer, all over the place.
