Chest and biceps today. Warm-up was 5 minutes on the treadmill followed by 2 warmup sets and 3 working sets. Moved from a 5X5 heavy routine to 3 sets, moderate weight and higher reps.
Seated wide grip chest press bilateral/barbell curl Seated incline chest press bilateral/z-bar curls Incline chest press barbell/hammer curl bar Incline chest fly/overhead cable curl
Incline fly was hitting every position from top to bottom. Complete a set, move the backrest a little lower, do another set, all the way to flat bench. Rest is 30 seconds between sets. Trying to keep the intensity up. I get a hip replacement near the end of this month and will be out of the gym for far too long. I don't wanna turn to jello during that time.
Tomorrow is shoulders and abs.
The lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part!

sick with a cold for the last three days; feeling better today and hope to get out in the hills while idle I did come up with a 50 mile loop in the Elkhorns, a mere 15,000’ of gain- should be a doozy

Minor setback, stress fracture in the 4th metatarsal. Need to take it easy for a bit, but I can probably still do the stationary bike.

Bummer! ^^^^ This in the fused foot? Starting splitting oak yesterday. Been years since I had any quantity of oak to process. Let's just say Ye Olde Oaken Rounds don' give up thar treasure without a fight. Shiver me timbers. More like jolt me timbers. However, after 25 years of splitting wood every year, I swear my body has adapted to it. I bet a careful survey of my frame would show asymmetrical skeletal and muscular "stuff" from all the wood I've beat with a maul. Too bad there's no real practical application for having retard-strength at beating things with a BFH.

It's not surprising given the whole new dynamic that leg is subject to, but that doesn't make it fun. Sorry to hear it, but my prediction is you'll be in the elk mountains this fall. Might want to hone your cross-canyon shooting skills though. Couple years ago at Steens when my hoof was horked up I was pretty glad I had my heavy 7 WSM w/ Nightforce NSX on it, for the reach. Let my eyes (and an Amax, haha) do the work.

No cross canyon shots for elk this year, drew a muzzleloader tag.
Might have to take a long poke at a pronghorn though. 6.5-06.

Sorry to hear about the stress fracture Smoke. That sucks.
15 miles and 1800 feet of climbing on the bike last night. Got my new gears and just had to try them out. Can still hit plenty of top speed (45) on downhills (only lost a tooth) and uphills are much more tolerable, so I think it will work out.
Then a 2 mile run.

24 mile ride w/buddy.
The 140 ELD-M from my 6.5 GAP 4s blew right through my massive and not-controversial <g> antelope buck last year. I'd use it again for that FWIW.

4 miles for Tiny E and I yesterday evening; had to leave him this morning and got a 12 mile run in- this is on the course of the 12 hour race I have in two weeks; at least I know I can get at least one loop in!

7 1/3 miles with the wife and our pup on the local trails. Off to the hills in the AM for a longer run, probably 15-20.

Scouting, 6 miles in and the same back out, highest elevation 12.6k lowest 11.4k with a lot of sidehilling and variation in between. 30lbs including water, food and optics.
It was a good wake up call, 12k and up is no freaking joke.

No it is not. Beyond just feeling crappy, altitude sickness can put a person in genuine peril. My wife is doing a section of the JMT (High Sierras) this summer, and day one they supposedly start at about 9.5k and go up and over a pass that's about 11k. I have been reading her the riot act about acclimation. We are planning to pack into Steens Mtn the week prior to get her somewhat acclimated. I know some really cool spots from hunting it in the 8500-9300 ft range. We'll camp lower on the mountain the first day and fish and, well, acclimate a bit, then head up top and pack in from there.
We live at practically sea level so even 7k feet can give a me headache, nausea, etc. Though I will say, it's been a lot less of an issue since I kicked my aerobic baseline way up a few years ago.
