Anyone have any experience with this bullet on coyotes at 243 win or 6mm Rem velocities? Got a killer load with VN-160 in my 243 win going and just want to make sure they don't just pencil through. Appreciate it.

Are these the match king, or game king? Match kings have a thicker jacket, and don't expand as well as the gamekings. I shot a lot of coyotes, wolves, and deer with the 6 mm 85 grain Sierra gameking. I always got good penetration and reliable expansion. Not many exit holes in deer, but they died very quickly. I shot quite a few deer using the 52 grain match king in my 222. They didn't open up much, and actually had one to through both shoulders, with a small exit hole. I went to the game king in the 222 and had much better expansion.

Well, I just found out that these are now marketed as "Varminter" bullets so I guess they're designed to take yotes. Mine are older, and the box doesn't specify whether Match or Varmint.

If you are using the non match version, they have a fairly wide hollow point..
I shoot them as they are real accurate... and are capable of being a nice deer bullet on Oregon blacktails..
Like the Speer 75 HP, their wide HP, I'd think would really get a little overly explosive on a coyote. so I'd think twice about it if I was wanting to retain the hide...
but someone else may sign in and have a different opinion...
I haven't shot a coyote with one.. but shooting smaller stuff and larger stuff, the bullet always really opened up and there was a fair amount of peripheral damage .. so it would be easy to conclude it would do the same on a coyote or another animal that size. it sure will explode a prairie dog big time.
might be fine in a 6 x 45, but not a 243 or 6mm Rem, for saving the hide.
