Gentlemen,

I am trying to find a picture of a particular wood stocked Mauser rifle chambered for .338-06. I have done the advanced search here on the website and cannot find anything. Maybe it has been lost with the Photobucket problems?

The picture(s) were definitely posted on this website. The rifle is a right hand Czech MILITARY Mauser, Vz-24 or 33 action with a 26 inch long barrel. The metalwork has a dark grey type finish. The stock is walnut with good grain and the pattern is classic. The picture shows the offside of the rifle, rifle propped up against a fence and the stock butt is partly buried in snow. From memory, I think the original owner, who posted the pictures, is located in the Eastern Rockies, somewhere like Montana , Wyoming etc.

I was hoping someone could post a link or repost the images. the stock is a very pleasing pattern. thanks.

This is not what you're looking for, but you may like this article if you've not seen it:

Thank you but that is not the rifle picture I have in mind. It is a nice rifle though, built on a SARCO Dumoulin action I believe or a Century Arms Italian made action.

The picture I am thinking of shows the rifle propped up on a fence in daylight with snow on the ground. The text states it used to be my rifle / I built it but someone else liked it more etc. So, I guess it was sold.

I LOVE Finn Aagaard's taste in rifles. Everything you need, nothing you don't, perfect lines, rough around the edges, and don't be afraid to work on it yourself. One of my favorite Aagaard quotes is, "I finished the outside of the stock quickly and easily by leaving it the way it came."

I'm still debating having a Barrett cerakoted in that color. Edit: I'm assuming that is what was done with this rifle. It really goes well with the walnut.

Thank you Brad. That is the picture I was looking for. There is something 'just right' about the classic American hunting rifle stock pattern.
