Any first hand experience with this rifle. Looked at one with wood stock and it handled pretty nice. The stock is not to chunky and the weight seemed decent.

I have a 223 I got from a friend that couldn't get it to shoot straight. I noticed the forend had warped and was touching the barrel on one side with a big gap on the other. I relieved it some but ended up getting the exposed wood wet and wrapped the forend in a damp cloth and clamped it in a vice between two pieces of angle iron until everything was dry. I relieved a little more wood from the channel and it came out pretty good, almost straight and the barrel was fully floated. Now it is a pretty consistent half inch gun. I wish there were more replacement stock options out there on the inexpensive side. I still have a good truck gun for $300 and a little effort.

I bought one of these in 338 Win Mag, Synthetic Stock. It has a super nice trigger. The rifle is light , handy and accurate. I was pleasantly suprised. I would buy another one, as a matter of fact, I am considering one in 375 ruger.

I bought the predator 6.5 creed version. Shoots moa or better and have t started to handload for it yet. I really like the synthetic stock, just looks like the synthetic version of a nice wood stock, no goofy looking grips or forend like other budget guns. It’s going mule deer hunting with me out west this year. I also duracoated the action, bolt and barrel. My favorite rifle right now.

Had one with wood stock in 30-06, came with the Vortex Crossfire. Whole package was $475. With 180gr Hornady SST handloads it would shoot right at 1MOA. Rifle handled well and shot well, the bolt had a little play but the trigger was very nice and though the grip stipling was ugly it was very comfortable and easy to grip. Sold it because I found a Remington 30-06 I thought I’d like better. I was wrong.

Been thinking about one of the cerakoted ones as an inexpensive solution to an over abundance of .308 ammo.

I've looked at them from across the counter, and was slightly impressed that a rifle with a fluted bolt and barrel could be offended at that price.

I have a cerakoted 243 that I bought for less than $350 from Buds. Finally put some rounds through it this weekend and was simply amazed. The first load I tried was 39 grains of varget with a 70 grain Btip. I was in a hurry so only loaded three of each load. First two shots touched and the third was close for a .675 group of three. I brought the rest home and pulled bullets.

I have a lot of respect for Mossberg for producing economical firearms, but not one of their bolt-action designs has lasted the test of time: neither the 100 ATR nor the 800, 801, 802 or 810 models.

The Patriot is what the ATR evolved into...the new Patriot "Revere" is a really good looking rifle, the original ATR had the ergos of a 2x4. Patriot Revere

Didnt Mossberg use the Weatherby Vanguard action for rifles for a short period?

Thanks, have any feed or eject problems. I have put a box and a half of shells through mine and have not experienced any feeding or ejection problems at all.

Didnt Mossberg use the Weatherby Vanguard action for rifles for a short period? I believe they did for a short time. I think it was called the Mossberg 1500, before the Howa 1500 came around.

Didnt Mossberg use the Weatherby Vanguard action for rifles for a short period? They did. The current rifles are the continuation of the long defunct Raptor Arms action.

If they're built anything like their shotguns, I'd run not walk away from them.

If they're built anything like their shotguns, I'd run not walk away from them. I've got 2 Mossy 500's. One is 21 years old and the other is 48+. They both have had many thousands of rounds through them without a hitch.
