The wife asked what Dad day gift our dog could get me? An axe sounded as good as anything, plus owning a nice axe, if cared for, can last a lifetime...So I asked my dog for an axe...This is on its way. Let’s see your favorite axe....😎

Could you post details? IE make/model/price/where to purchase. Looks like a great Father's Day gift.

Let’s see your favorite axe....😎 My meager collection. The old Plumb Cruiser is probably my favorite. It definitely sees the most use.

I've come to appreciate 36" axes with 3 1/2 pound heads for most stuff. Short axes are like mini chainsaws to me.

Depends on what you're doing.....for serious splitting I use my splitting maul or a sledge and wedges but about the only thing I split these days is kindling for the wood stove and that old Plumb with a 2# head and 28" haft is just right. The hatchets are for camping.
Don......I like that smaller knife at the bottom of your pic a lot..... Who made it?

I have more than a few and the Hudson Bay pattern has been a long time favorite and more recently I've been using several Small Forest axe's (Gransfors Bruk & Hults Bruk) in my travels. For bigger jobs I rely on the old Collins.

I just find the longers axes safer for chopping down trees, limbing etc. No doubt different axes for different uses.
I'm about to put a boy's head on a 36" haft.

Agree with you... Boy's axe pattern is another must have. Council Tool makes a nice one if you are buying new.

You have a nice ax (I never thought I'd say that to a guy!) Seriously, I have a slightly different model axe from Gränsfors Bruk too and I really like it. I took a tour of the Gränsfors Bruk company a few years ago, and I met 3 of the dozen or so axesmiths. Each smith stamps their initials on every ax -- and if one of their axe heads ever cracks and is returned (no time limit warranty), that particular smith is subject to a lot of ribbing from the others. :-) I zoomed in on your picture, and your particular ax was made by " EB" who is Eric Blixt. No particular reason other than I found it interesting to connect a particular ax to a face, but here is a picture of the guy who made your specific ax: Therese Alford (Gränsfors Bruk purchasing) with axe smith Erik BlixtI just thought you (and your dog!) might find this interesting! Cheers from Sweden, John

John, Very cool of you to pass me that info, and picture of the guy Erik who made the axe head...Thank you!
Totally, wish it was the girl in the photo who made the axe, though...She’s way better to look at.
P.S. Dog says thanks, too...Mark 😎
