Yes. Had them within 2 weeks of ordering, no issues. Also m70 Oberndorf.

Yep, the last 1 had problems- came without a cross pin to keep the floor plate attached to the bottom metal. Made one out of a 1/16 drill bit. I also had to file the lock to get it to close under pressure. Should have sent it back...

I've ordered a few. The Oberndorf is the only one that has had a problem. Mine popped open periodically when the rifle was fired. The gunsmith filed down the latch a little but it still does it every now and then

My one and only experience was with an aluminum Oberndorf for my 416 Rem M70. This was a few years ago but it took three long tries to get the right assembly. My last return advised they keep it free of charge... They finally sent a proper assembly that failed under the recoil of the 416. Needless to say, I was not impressed.

Ordered successfully a few months back. Over the years have had over all better luck w the standard button units vs the Obendorf, which either popped open too easily and/or needed tweaking/filing to latch securely.

I think with the Obendorf style some sort of tweaking is mandatory. The recoil problem can usually be fixed with a heavier spring. Or duct tape as I have seen in Africa on both Winchesters and Westly Richards rifles.

I have had a problem with the Obendorf opening while shooting also. I would stick with the standard button model.

Is the standard (non-Orberndorf) bottom metal good to go, or same junk?

I have the standard and it hasn't given me any problems, but it's on a 260 rem so it's not exactly subject to heavy recoil. My current 280 ai build is using a hawkins, just to try something different.

The Hawkins is damn good. I wouldn't spend more or less on anything else. I also consider that in my limited experience the CS reps at PTG were jerks.

The hole that retains the spring on PT&G's Oberndorf unit isn't drilled at the right angle to allow the spring to function properly. I mentioned this to PT&G years ago when they first came out with the Oberndorf style. They don't really seem to care enough to correct the problem. If you compare it to a Williams Oberndorf unit it is easy to see the problem. The standard PT&G unit(outside the bow release) is fine however and won't open under recoil.
Williams quality is apparent when compared side by side to PT&G. I guess in the case of the Oberndorf style of bottom metal at least you really do get what you pay for.

Sunny Hill also makes very nice aluminum units... but last I checked it was about the cost of 2 Ruger Americans

The PTG AICS-compatible BM is well made and functions well. I really like the Stealth.

I need to order a couple model 70 orbendorph alluminum bottom metals. Has anybody ordered from PTG recently? I have PTG bottom metal, but the removable magazine type. I think PTG prices are great and cannot find any fault. I ordered another bolt yesterday. The bolt I ordered 5 weeks ago just shipped. PTG build times are better than Krieger, Bartlein, McMillan, or Schmidt and Bender. By the time anything arrives, I forget about the project.

Stuff seems to keep disappearing and then reappearing on their website. A few days ago, it was the LA Stealth bottom metal for Win 70's. Right now, it's the standard one-piece (non-Oberndorf) bottom metal for LA M70's. No response to the two emails that I've sent to them this week about the issue. I'm not sure if there's anyone there that cares.
I'm about to place an order from them, but I'm not holding my breath about when I'll receive the order or what it'll actually contain.
