I'm think on getting one in 22 for the varmints and other unfortunate things around the house. I would love to have something more, but budget wont let me. Seems the reviews aren't too bad on this. Thoughts?

You summed it up pretty well. I had one for a few years, killed a bunch of rock chucks with it. They are pretty big, long and heavy. The one I shot was accurate and reliable. Trigger was ok, a little twangy but overall solid gun. A huge step up over the chinese and cheap beemans, rugers, etc. Sold it and bought a Beeman R9. While the R9 is more expensive I have no desire to go back to a 34.

I bought an RWS 34 for squirrels in the backyard. It is a .177 and with Crosman 10.5 grain pellets it shoots completely through them on broadside shots. I got it at BassPro Shop as a package with a scope and it has performed well. It is a heavy rifle but if feels like a centerfire which I think is a good thing. I think a .22 caliber would be even better.
