McCain says Helsinki summit 'should not move forward' unless Trump takes firm stand against Russian meddling
Sen. John McCain said Friday that the U.S.-Russia summit in Helsinki “should not move forward” unless President Trump is willing to hold Russia accountable for political meddling. This, after 12 Russian intelligence officers were indicted for allegedly hacking emails from the Clinton campaign and the Democratic Party in the 2016 election.
The Republican senator from Arizona released a statement praising the charges, which arose out of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Russian interference in the election.
The 12 members belonging to the Russian Intelligence agency are accused of hacking into emails from the Hillary campaign and her party, and of leaking damaging discussions between top party members.
“Today’s indictment is a result of the hard work of America’s law enforcement and intelligence officials who dedicate their lives to bringing to justice those who wish to do us harm,” McCain, who has been sidelined while battling cancer, said in a statement.

“These revelations add to a body of evidence confirming an extensive plot by Vladimir Putin’s government to attack the 2016 election, sow chaos and dissension among the American electorate, and undermine faith in our democracy.”
McCain has been a vocal critic of Trump, recently calling his visit to the NATO summit in Brussels “disappointing.”
While not expressing outright support for the meeting with Russia, which is to take place on Monday, McCain said Thursday that that summit represented an opportunity for Trump “to demonstrate his willingness to defend America” against its adversaries.

During the 2016 campaign, the Clinton team and the DNC were one and the same. The Clintons took over the DNC because the Clintons could raise more money and Hillary wanted complete control of the DNC. The DNC was agreeable to this. They got a cut of the Clinton's fundraising.

I have no doubt whatsoever that the Russians meddled in the 2016 election, there is just too much proof that they did......but the US has been sticking it's nose in foreign affairs for as long as I can remember. We've financed many opposition groups to a foreign government, and engaged in behavior just as "bad" as what the Ruskies did.

Good point. I have no doubt whatsoever that the Russians meddled in the 2016 election, there is just too much proof that they did..... I have seen very little proof. Lots of opinion, but little proof. I do not doubt that they meddled, but for Who, and to what extent. I also figure that meddling was on their own, and has been going on for several years, just as the US meddles in foreign affairs. Sometimes openly, and sometimes covert. I also doubt that it had any effect on the outcome of the past Presidential election. miles

3 things come to mind with this.
Rosie comes out with this 3 days before the summit in order to derail it.
Everyone knew back then that the Russians, as well as many others, were hacking in. This is not new news. Both the DNC and the RNC were warned of this. The RNC took measures to prevent it. The DNC did nothing. John Podesta's password, was "PASSWORD". Hillery had an unauthorized and unprotected server in her basement. They deserve to get hacked.
