What are the advantages and disadvantages of these two scopes? What would you choose? The Leupold has a Firedot Duplex illuminated reticle and the Burris 4c reticle with a illuminated dot

I have the VX-R 4-12 Firedot. could not be happier with its performance. Sorry I have no experience with the models you ask about.
My VX-R is mounted on a TIKKA T-3 / 270 Win and I think it a good combination for deer and antelope in WY, ID, and MT.

Not trying to highjack your thread but who sells the Burris e1 red dot scope, not the ballistic Plex? I may have to get one. Where are they made now? I've had a couple of the older Burris electro dot scopes and they were awesome.

I also have the Leupold VXR 3x9x50 on a Blaser K95 in 270 Win. I love the retical, glass is plenty good for me. Just sighted it in, no drama. I will be using it to stalk Roe deer and boar at the end of this month. photo hosting

VX-R 4x12-50 I use it for nightime hog hunting , killed a bunch of hogs and coons with it - very pleased with the scope . Battery has last for 3 years , i take it out while not in use .
