Hi guys,

I stopped at a garage sale this morning after seeing a tiller for sale. I walked up and the little old lady said it did'nt and has not run in years. I looked over and there was a rifle a Winchester model 250 standing in the corner. I ask how much for the rifle... she said it was her brothers and it ain't been shot in years how's 20.00 dollars. I bought it. Its in petty good shape not beat or scratched up. So I got home check the bore wiped it down and it shoots pretty darn good. I put about 30-40 shots thru it and no problems. They only issue I see is the magazine tube lock is broke (but still works) and I can find the serial number. I looked on both sides and under the reciever and can't find anything. Any ideas or was it made back before serial numbers were issed?

Thanks!

Many .22s didn't have serial #s until the GCA of 1968. May be pre-68.

All of the 150/250/255, 270/275, and 190/290 Winchesters that I've owned have had serial numbers stamped on the front of the bottom of the receiver. Even the Sears 3-T house brand 190 has a serial number.

I have a Mod.250.Mine has the S/N stamped on the bottom of the receiver.I probably put 10,000 rounds through that thing when I was a kid back in the 60's and 70's.Dang good shooting rifle. The end of the feed tube wore out and was fixed by making a couple of deep grooves with a tubing cutter, not quite cutting all the way through but enough to leave a ridge inside the tube to keep the feed plunger inside.

I had the 270 model (pump) in the early 60s. Believe it had a SN stamped on the bottom of the receiver.
Gosh I slayed a lot of stuff with that rifle.
